Compare: The Beethoven Entry 4 Different Ways

Just how much room for variation is there in Prodigy’s standard floorplans? To show you, we’ve been doing a series that compares different versions of the same room from the same plan, demonstrating the astonishing variety that results. This week, we’re looking at four Beethoven entryways, each with their own unique style.

Subdued Elegance

This entryway belongs to our 2014 Parade Home. Delicate scrollwork on the front doors complements the classic touches, such as the wainscoting. The office’s double doors are obscured glass—providing light while maintaining a measure of privacy. A soft, warm neutral, “Functional Gray” from Sherwin Williams is a beautiful choice for the walls. To add interest without disrupting the serene, neutral color scheme, a variety of textures are used, including basketweave, wood-grain, and glass. Wood-wrapped columns gently and invitingly link the entryway to the rest of the house.

Warm and Welcoming

This transitional entryway is actually quite similar to the previous one, with the same wall color and flooring choice. However, eliminating the wainscoting and the columns gives a much more casual feel. Full-lite double doors let in plenty of light.  The weathered furniture and mirror add to the cozy feel, while the chandelier brings back a note of elegance. This entryway is grand yet accessible—seeming to say, “Welcome home!”

Bold Trim

This Beethoven entry makes a bold choice that we think pays off: dark trim. Usually, we recommend white millwork, but in this case, “Dovetail” creates drama and richness. A beautiful feature on its own, this entryway’s dropped crown is highlighted by LED rope lighting. “Repose Gray” is a serene, warm color that creates a very inviting space, and helps this dramatic entryway to retain the warm first impression that you want your home to have.

Dazzling Marble

This opulent entryway is fit for a palace. It’s hard to go wrong with a marble floor, and herringbone is a timeless pattern that serves to draw the eye along, elongating the room. Wainscoting, wood-wrapped columns, and full-lite doors with a beautiful, lace-like pattern increase the elegance of this space. The two-tiered chandelier dazzles, as does the LED rope lighting in the dropped crown. The one drawback of a marble floor is that it can seem cold, but in this entry, “Smoke Embers” from Benjamin Moore warms up the space to prevent that. This jaw-dropping entry is sure to make a wonderful first impression, both for everyday occasions and more formal events.
