We love the timeless white kitchen, and we’re definitely not alone, because white cabinets have been the most popular choice for quite a while now. For the last couple of years, design sources have been predicting its decline, but it keeps right on going with no signs of slowing down! So, if you love white kitchens, don’t let anyone dissuade you from this classic, beautiful look. On the other hand, maybe you’re ready for something a little different, and looking for inspiration. Well, look no further! Here are some of our favorite alternatives to white cabinets!
Stain the Perimeter
Going with a dark stain on the perimeter cabinets and just painting the island white is an unexpected choice. You can have that beautiful, rich wood without the kitchen feeling too dark overall. Other awesome features of this kitchen are the rectangular tiles in a vertical staggered design that really gives an unexpected twist. The smoky look of the glass pendant lights is absolutely gorgeous.
Infuse Elegance into Your Kitchen
Black is another classic, and comes with a dramatic impact like no other. In this kitchen, the contrast between the “Vintage Black” cabinets and the white quartz floor is absolutely stunning. The white stacked-stone backsplash brings in contrast and texture. And nothing can make a bigger impact than a waterfall countertop in black river granite.
Warm it Up!
For a subtle warmth that permeates your kitchen, try a creamy off-white. The cabinets in this kitchen are Huntwood’s “Eggshell.” Platinum antiquing serves to really define the recessed panels on the doors. A wood-grain tile backsplash adds to the cozy feeling. Finally, rope molding tops the cabinetry for a beautiful finished look.
Bring in Some Modern Flair
Huntwood’s “Sterling” is a beautiful warm grey color that looks spectacular paired here with “Ridgestone” stain on the island. With a professional fridge/freezer, cool modern pendant lights, and an eye-catching backsplash, this kitchen definitely has it all. We also love that warm, almost rustic hardwood flooring.
Keep it Natural
You just can’t beat the natural beauty of wood. These cabinets are stained “Oasis,” a light stain that showcases the gorgeous hickory cabinets. The effect is so warm and inviting. Painting the vent hood breaks up the wood and helps it stand out as a focal point. The paint used is “Phantom,” a lovely warm grey. Astoria granite, a light-colored material with beautiful subtle movement to it, is a wonderful choice for countertops. Perfectly complementing it all is the bronze hardware.
Sophisticated Earth Tones
We’ve seen both of these colors (“Phantom” on the island, “Ridgestone” on the perimeter) already in this post, but they come together with great elegance and subtle contrast in this last example. The texture of the 3-D backsplash and the almost sculptural quality of the light fixtures adds a lot of interest, while the countertop brings in that climactic note that only black river granite can.
